Charity Eco-Audits
3 Acorns Eco-Audits have wide experience of eco-audits in the charity sector.
Our founder Donnachadh McCarthy
worked in the charity and not-for-profit sector for
over a decade, which gives us an understanding of how the sector works and the special
challenges that charities face when working to improve their environmental performance.
3 Acorns Eco-audits was commissioned by the Corporation of London to carry out an
eco-audit project of 12 charities in the non-environmental sector in London, including
the sector's three major umbrella bodies ACEVO, ACF and NCVO.
The project funded by the City Bridge Trust won a gold Green Apple Award, presented
at the awards ceremony at the House of Commons. The following year it won the National
Energy Efficiency Award.
The charities we have eco-audited have ranged from sheltered housing units to community
transport charities to a book-service for the blind. Donnachadh worked for 7 years
in the sector for The Lord’s Taverners children’s charity and was a charity trustee
for 12 years.
This helps us understand the special issues that face the charitable sector and we
believe passionately that a well run charity also means an environmentally responsible
charity.
